8 Wands – Action
This month I am continuing journeying into the minor arcana cards of the Sacred Circle Deck (available from my book store ), this month it is the Eight of Wands – and we start to look at the Eights. Eights are a positive force coming into being - depending on the suit on how easily this occurs it is the continued resolution of the conflicts that started in the 7's - for some suits this resolution comes easier than in others.

I look at the card and see the 8 arrows all heading in one direction and a very flat landscape in the background with the Merry Maidens stone circle.
I walk into the card....
I feel quite a breeze on my face , my hair is blowing in the wind and i feel the cobwebs being blown away. The sun is shining and it feels like a fresh spring morning , I feel energetic and alive, I want to move, dance and run. I feel the grass beneath my feet and the joy of spring – all is well. I need something to channel this energy into.
I look up to the wands and ask them for their message.
"We are all ready and poised for action – nothing is holding us back now – we are all in agreement and want to go the same way, the wind is behind us and we can be helped to move forward swiftly and effortlessly now. There are many of us symbolising the idea that though you know what you want, there are many ways of achieving your goal. You need to put all your plans into action and then you have many chances of achieving success. We are also your intentions. Your dreams, desires and goals. As you get all your thoughts focused in one way, you can create the future you have wished for. Now is the time to take action and do, all blocks have been removed and the way is clear. "
"We come about when you are ready for romance or new friendships, we speak of being ready to receive others into our lives – to follow our passion and to make the contacts now needed for our dreams to come true. Full speed ahead! "
"Thank you." I say I can feel their energy and I understand by my own surge of energy it is only a matter of deciding what direction and then the journey begins.
"Don't put things off any more do it now!" I hear them add.
I look ahead to the land and am really struck by the flatness of it – how far it stretches off into the distance and then realise that actually it is so much easier to cross flat land than the mountainous territory I am used to. I have a sense of the land itself is yielding to progress and aiding swift movement, not just in one direction, as down hill offers, but in all directions, nothing is holding up progress.
I lay down to speak to the ground – I know I am hearing its message, but I want to honor its supportive essence in this card. "What do you represent I ask, Am I along the right tracks?"
"Yes indeed," it replies "I am the support and nurturing solidity that every plan and project needs. I am fertile and whatever you plant in me now, will grow and bear fruit. There is choice all around, I will hinder you in nothing – you only need decide your direction."
"Thank you." I say, I feel the grass tickle my face and decide to ask the grass for its message here.
"We are the blades that soften your path under your feet – we are the blanket of protection, the smooth surface that causes you no injury as you walk or run across us. We yield to your energy and your weight, knowing it is our offering to you. In the same way the tasks ahead of you are of your own true nature – this is the start of what you are here to do – to create, honour yourself and do not berate yourself for it being 'too easy'. It is ok that the unfolding of success comes easily, your work has been done previously to get you to this place of ease. "
"Thank you," I say "that is very interesting."
"We take the energy from the sun, that of self love and respect, and synthesise it, to support you on your journey ahead. You have the self esteem you need now and it will support you. "
"Yes, thank you – I appreciate your messages here"
I stand up and feel less restless. I have chosen my direction and I am happy to walk for now, as I know there is no rush and I can run later if I choose to. I walk to the stones.
"What do you represent?" I ask.
"We are the containers for all that would prevent you progressing – we will contain your self doubts, your unrest, your disagreements with others. As we contain your more destructive impulses, we can use their energy to help maintain the feeling of flow in your life, ensure the patterns you have broken stay broken, and that you will have boundaries with those where it is appropriate. We are the foundation of your self trust, we are energised and fed by energy from the spiritual realms as well as energies from the deep and old earth."
I find myself drifting off into the safety of the earth and I uncover old ideas and plans that I had left along the wayside and I see that these can be resurrected at this time. "That's useful – thank you" I say.
I feel I am recovering old discarded energy and reanimating it with the help of the circle – it is as if the circle is a storage place for ideas that come before their time. Allowing you to access them at a more appropriate time.
Then I move to the other side of the circle and towards the gap in the hedge in the distance. I run towards it, feeling like the wind. As I breakthrough onto the other side I see a beautiful sea and the grassy plains turning into sand dunes, I feel heat and the sandy ground beneath my feet. As I reach the sea I run into it and feel its cleansing waves lap against my feet and legs. I feel joy and freedom – aloneness in the best sense of the word, like I am totally safe and at peace with myself. I dance and cartwheel and play and enjoy the sun.
"What are you all meaning from this card?" I ask.
"We are the possibility of everything you desire in your life. Right now we are showing you play, play for its own sake and not affected by others energies, expectations or needs. We are showing you the joy of being in your own space, having no outside pressures on you. This is the energy in your life right now, the flow of being all of who you are. "
"Yes thank you – I am feeling this in my energy at the moment – I sometimes feel I could pop with it all – is there a way to adjust the flow to be able to feel more comfortable with it?"
"Just enjoy the now for, like the sea, things always change, and sometimes you swell with the excitement, sometimes you will rest, and both of these are needed to bring the balance – allow yourself the waves – enjoy them and surf on them. J "
"Thank you I will. "
I realise the time has come for me to leave this place – I have really enjoyed this card, but I also need to ask about the reversed energy
"Yes," says the sun as if speaking for the whole card. "when we are reversed then the wind is in your face and though it feels like it 'should' be easy to move forward, there is an invisible resistance. The circle is not containing your own sabotaging side of yourself. If you see how you sabotage your efforts, and ask the circle to contain these, then this will right the card for you and allow you to move forward with ease. It is as if the wands are all seemingly in the same direction – but actually a couple are facing the other way making equal force in two opposite directions. As you come to terms with what the discord is about, then you will be able to put all your arrows in the same direction and move forward. It is within you that which holds you back, and you can change it quite easily once you have understood your own resistance to living the life you dream of. "
"Thank you," I say "that makes sense. "
I turn and find the doorway I came in through is right by me. I wave good bye to this wonderful, high energy exciting card and come back into the room.

The readings I offer on the phone, internet, in person or by post are detailed and last between 1/2 hour to an hour, also I record them onto CD or MP3 so you can listen to them time and time again – often people find that the things I have said take on new meanings as time passes and that the information that comes through really helps as situations unfold.
Information is gained both from the tarot cards as well as psychically the two forms of guidance merging together to give insight to any situation you are concerned about, or you general future.
Readings can be done by distance onto a CD or MP3 and sent to you in the post, so there's no need to be living in my area, or need to find a time we can both be present. I offer readings Face to Face, On Skype video phone, and usual telephone, as well as distance readings without you needing to be present or available when I do the reading for your focus directly onto CD or MP3. I now offer ongoing development sessions where we use guided meditations, readings and counselling techniques of various kinds to help you develop yourself from both a spiritual and psychological point of view. This is not psychotherapy though - but a regular support with teaching of skills, to help you move through lifes challenges and develop spiritually and psychologically. Personal relationship awareness and self development
By request, I am currently developing a course focusing on psychological self development and awareness of relationship patterns of behaviour we get into time and time again, to be run later on in the year. It will be heavily based on the theories of Transactional Analysis, which is a theory that explores the games we play with each other and the internal sub-personalities of Parent, Adult and Child, with a view to becoming more authentic in our lives. The course will be held online via a forum as my other courses are. It is not connected with tarot reading specifically, however it will be useful in dealing with clients, whether tarot, healing or other supportive professional roles - particularly where you may find challenges of communication. Initial Thoth Course We are currently taking bookings for the Initial Thoth course starting on January 2012. It covers the psychological and intuitional approaches to reading with the Thoth. There is a good deal of personal work and students often feel they have transfermed personally a lot through the course's duration, in addition to feeling confident with the Thoth and their increasing intuitive skills.
